Coast Baseball Academy Coaching Staff

 

At Coast Baseball, we combine valuable experience with hard work, and dedication.  Our staff has excelled at the highest level of baseball, and we strive to implement our valuable knowledge during each training session.  With over 15 years of professional baseball experience, our staff teaches from experience and is able to relate to young, aspiring athletes all throughout Southern California.

Jordan Tripp - President & General Manager
(Oakland A's)

 

   In his final season at Los Alamitos High School, Jordan lead the Griffins to the Sunset League Title while batting .390 with 32 hits, 6 of which were doubles and 6 home runs. He also added 25 runs and 25 RBI's in his senior campaign. Jordan was named the Sunset Leagues Most Valuable Player after posting a .500 batting average and 6 home runs in 15 Sunset League games. Those numbers also led to him being named 1st Team All C.I.F., 1st Team All Orange County, 1st Team Dream Team and 2nd Team All State.

 

     After his 2007 senior campaign at Los Alamitos, Jordan received a scholarship to the baseball powerhouse, Cal State Fullerton where he took a redshirt year. Brandon Tripp - Outfield & Hitting Coordinator (Baltimore Orioles, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies)

 

   In high school, Brandon was a four-year starter in baseball and football and was named first-team all-league three years in baseball, as well as team MVP his senior year.  Brandon also led the Griffins football team to CIF championship while being named Sunset League MVP and first-team All-CIF as a wide receiver.  He earned a baseball scholarship to Cal State Fullerton.  Was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 21st round following his senior year but decided against turning pro in order to go to college.

Blake Davis - Infield Coordinator
(Baltimore Orioles) 

 

Blake attended Fountain Valley High School in Fountain Valley, California, where he played primarily shortstop and led in the school's hits and assists. Earned first-team All-Sunset League, second-team All-Orange County and second-team All-CIF honors as a senior, when he batted .376 and stole 14 bases to help the Barons to the league title and the CIF quarterfinals. Also a first-team all-league and second-team all-county pick as a junior, when he hit .459 and set single-season school records for hits (45) and assists (83).

Zack Wilson - Infield Coach
(New York Yankees) 

 

A 2008 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA, Zack earned four varsity letters in baseball and was a team captain his senior season...a first-team all-league selection in each of his last two seasons...part of team that won state title and ended the year ranked #1 in the nation by Baseball America in 2007. He also participated in the 2007 USA Baseball Tournament of the Stars. 

 

Zack was selected in the 26th round (774th pick overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft, but opted to go to Arizona State University on a full baseball scholarship. After three successful years at ASU, Zack was selected by the New York Yankees in the 21st round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft. Chad Lewis - Infield Coach
(Oakland A's)

 

Chad Lewis is a former Marina High School standout third baseman who hit a combined .385 in his final year in the Sunset League. Chad signed a full scholarship to play baseball at San Diego State University, but elected to turn pro at just 18 years old after being selected in the fourth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the Oakland Athletics. Jacob Nix - Pitching Coach
(San Diego Padres) 

 

Jacob attended Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California, and as a junior, he pitched to a 7-2 win-loss record with a 2.80 earned run average, and was named to the Press-Telegram's all-area first team. He committed to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on a college baseball scholarship to play for the UCLA Bruins baseball team. At the start of his senior year of high school, Nix played for the United States national baseball team in the 2013 18U Baseball World Cup. The United States won the gold medal in the event. By the start of his senior season, his fastball velocity ranged from 92 to 95 miles per hour.

 

The San Diego Padres selected Nix in the third round (86th overall selection) in the 2015 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. To read more about coach Jacob, click here.

Josef Terry - Infield Coach
(Cincinnati Reds) 

 

Joe was drafted three times throughout his collegiate career, the first time was by the Seattle Mariners in the 17th round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft from Cerritos College (Norwalk, CA). Joe chose not to sign, and instead return to Cerritos College for a second year where he was then drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 8th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft. Joe chose not to sign as he received a full scholarship to play at college baseball powerhouse Cal State Fullerton. After his junior year at CSUF, Joe was drafted and signed by the Cincinnati Reds in the 30th round of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft.
