Brandon Tripp

Outfield Coach & Hitting Coordinator

In high school, Brandon was a four-year starter in baseball and football and was named first-team all-league three years in baseball, as well as team MVP his senior year.  Brandon also led the Griffins football team to CIF championship while being named Sunset League MVP and first-team All-CIF as a wide receiver.  He earned a baseball scholarship to Cal State Fullerton.  Was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 21st round following his senior year but decided against turning pro in order to go to college.

In college at Cal State Fullerton, Brandon won the 2004 College World Series National Championship during his freshman year. Scored the game-tying run on a wild pitch in the national championship-clinching game against Texas and scored the tying run on a Ronnie Prettyman single in the Titans' 2-1 extra-inning victory over Long Beach State on May 21.  As a Sohpmore he hit .343 in 54 games for the Titans', making 25 starts in center field. He sported a six-game hitting streak from Mar. 5 to Mar. 13, going 7-for-12 (.583) over that stretch. Brandon collected eight multi-hit games, including two in which he knocked three against UC Santa Barbara (May 1) and Pepperdine (May 10). On May 10 vs. Pepperdine, he also collected a career-high five RBI, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run and his first career triple in the Titans' 13-4 victory. He hit his first career homer on Mar. 13 against the then No. 1 Tulane Green Wave. Brandon made no errors in the outfield in 61 chances.  In 2006 he was drafted in the 12th round by the Baltimore Orioles.
